(Sorry if this is incredibly simple for you techno people!). I'm going to buy a digital camera. It says it comes with 2 AA alkaline batteries, and a USB connection. To charge it, would I replace the batteries.... or plug it in to the computer (like you do with an iPod)?

Depends on the camera. 2 alkaline batteries aren't rechargeable and with a digital camera they will be garbage real quick. My kodak docks into it's own printer and that recharges the rechargeable battery that it came with. My HP camera, we just take the batteries out and recharge them in the charger we had to buy. The HP came with regular alkaline batteries. Neither of my cameras charge simply by connecting it to the computer. I'd definitely talk to someone in the department about each camera you're thinking of. Each one is a little different.

It gives you 2 alkaline batteries so you can use it right away, they are not rechargeable. You have to go buy rechargeables and a charger. The USB cable is for transferring images to your computer. Make sure you buy at least 2500 mAh batteries for longer life.

You must have bought an HP photosmart camera.

Why does no one learn the handbook, or different individuals's questions? No digital camera bills by way of the USB cable. If it has AA batteries, they without problems demands to get replaced, or charged making use of a common AA battery charger. Li-ion batteries are charged via a committed charger that got here with the digital camera.
