IQ tests are a good measure of overall intelligence, but it is not worth getting "hung up" over a score lower than average. Naturally we are all skilled in different areas, and a good IQ test will test you on all of these. Often people who are good at the literature based questions are not so strong on mathematical ones and vice versa. Also many online IQ tests copy questions, so people can become used to the types of questions they will answer. This isnt therefore testing IQ, but memory!!

Personally my IQ is 145, which is considered high, but I dont think this makes me any more intelligent than those with a lower score.

I dont think intelligence can be measured - and I find the need to measure children on an IQ level quite disturbing.

What does everyone else think?

Honestly, I don't think intelligence should be measured on a simple scale of 1-160+; plus, IQ tests are ONLY as smart as the people who write them--well, what if the writer is average? Wouldn't that skew the results of an above average/gifted student? People really should not know their IQs, especially when they are very high above average--they are the LAZIEST people on Earth. Trust me, there are more students who get straight A's by working constantly and are still quite smart by studying, while people with IQs of 120+ get Bs and Cs for nothing. IQ tests seem useless, you can work to get where you need to be. Every human being has potential, and it shouldn't be limited by a mere test result that could possibly be innaccurate.

IQ is a good measure for some aspects of intelligence, for example, mathematical ability, spacial ability and so on.

The kind of IQ test you find on fun sites is little more than a game, though. To have a proper test you need to have many more questions, a quiet room in exam conditions and the test needs to be marked and assessed by someone with training.

Yes, IQ test gives a correct measure of your thinking, visualizing and simple arithmetic skills.
I have given some test on internet, and found the questions varying from very very easy to very tough. This varying toughness of questions is the key of IQ test. It encompasses people of different intelligence. Also most of the people comes under the average category signifies its validity, as most of the persons have similar thinking ability.
