Pool if you knock in the strip or solid then thats what you are during the whole game until you are going for the 8 ball. 9 ball is just using the balls 1 through 9 and you have to knock them in order and saving the 9 ball for last. Who ever knocks in the 9 ball out of order loses.

I assume by Pool you mean 8 ball. 9 ball is a different way to play the game of pool. 8 ball is played this way: The rack is filled with all the balls. Generally with the 8 ball in the middle. Whoever pockets a ball first has honors and they are either stripes or solids (whatever they knock in first). The eight ball is neutral and is the last ball to go down after all of one players balls are pocketed. 9 ball is as follows: The balls are racked in a diamond shape (generally with the 9 in the middle). The object is to start by pocketing the one and moving in ascending order until you pocket the 9. A foul occurs when you strike a ball that's not in play first (such as your going for the one and you hit the four ball on accident). You can win by either sinking all the balls in ascending order OR by Comboing the 9 ball off the ball in play and sinking the 9 ball. I know the answer is a little lengthy but I hope it helps
