People are told when they are children that if they dare think differently than what they are being told then about "god", they will be eternally tortured. It instills a deep fear that goes to their core. Anytime those 'beliefs' are question when they are adults, that old fear flares up and they lash out at whoever is questioning their beliefs instead. It's similiar to a PTSD flashback effect and is cruel to do to children.

Man has feelings.

People feel shame. People feel angry. Faith or Belief is normally the highest thing that people hold on to. It is sacred ground. We need to respect each other's belief. And because faith or belief is normally esteemed to be more precious than life, to put a disgrace or offensive remark will be dumb.

Well, seems like religion creates alot of hate and death. I agree 100% with you. When you said isn't that the opposite of what "God" would want? I totally agree again with you 100%!
I am very sure that God does not want hate or death.

But man remains as man. So blinded by feelings and cannot possibly see things as God sees it. Yet, man is not lost forever. That's why there's people like you who can see that it is very stupid for both religion to go for war and fight against each other's belief. That's where your role comes in. This is where we as those who can "see" the bigger picture helps those who cannot see.

In my opinion, I just think that these people are either brainwash or just looking for a target to let out their accumulated frustration and anger. Just a outlef to venge upon. Most of these are normally from poverty striken areas and places. With poverty often comes inequality. Broken families and poor education or accessibility to certain resources. All these are factors that contributes to alot of supressed hatred and anger.

All it needs is just one cause or an excuse to fight and that's it! All hell breaks loose.

Religious people dislike being questioned essentially because they have no real answers. Religion requires faith; faith, logically, requires an absence of knowledge, or it wouldn't be faith.
The process of acquiring, and building upon, faith is fundamentally a process of non-thinking. To believe in a myth or legend, including the remarkable things described in the Bible, is contrary to all logical thought. To embrace it, one must actually stop thinking. Therefore no intelligent answers can be had, and conversation is limited unless a person of religion is talking to another person who has chosen to live under the grasp of the same illusory reality.

See Richard Dawkins for interesting ideas on the inherent problems of fundamentalist religion, and Bishop Spong for fascinating arguments about why those problems may be totally beside the point. It's always good to read both sides of an argument, and Spong is a legend.

Why do some people like to make blanket statements that can't be backed up? I don't believe the majority of religious people feel offended or feel they have to defend what they believe. At least those secure in their faith.

I believe the answer to your question is that God is a constant and religion is man-made. Religion is an interpretation of what God wants and expects from us taken from many ancient sources. Man tends to over complicate something that should be basic and simple. That's a problem with human nature, not God.

I dont get angry when my faith is questioned. But there are some people (quite a few on this site) that scoff at my faith, and those of my brothers and sisters in Christ. THAT, my friend, angers me. But not my faith being challenged.

To answer your second question. The reason that there is more than one religion, is because God gave us free will. A choice. You see, His purpose is not to be an 'Almighty God' that has little robot children for His followers. He gave us free will, so that we have a choice. We can choose to believe and follow Him, which leads to a life eternal with Him, OR, we can choose not to. His point is not to sit in heaven with all His robot children on earth worshipping Him because they have to. He wants people to come to him because they need Him, and they love Him. It wouldnt say much of Him if we had no choice would it? It brings Him glory, when we choose Him.
I've never been happier.

People should not get mad or offended when their faith is questioned. They should either have and answer or if they do not have the answer then to pray, study and seek an answer. I have been a born again Christian since I was 19 years old. I enjoy having my faith challenged, it gives me an opportunity to look up answers to questions that I have never thought about before. Every time the answers point back to God and Jesus Christ which only further strengthens my faith. People who get mad don't understand the opportunity that is in front of them.

Organized Religion is out for control, recruitment, brainwashing, and profit. You honestly think those Christian schools care so much about young christian kids getting an education? Yeah, that's why they charge a $4,000 tuition fee. You think those pastors on television care about the welfare of society? That's why they're on television selling their books and audio cassettes.

Maybe they get offended, because they have no real evidence of a deity existing, and they're insecure about death, and deny the natural process of death. A better question would be why they feel the need to persecute others for not following their religion. What gives them the right to protest at funerals, and go door to door trying to sell their religion?

You missed the entire scope and purpose of God Himself.

There is not to be many Gods. There are is ONE God Jehovah. and many false gods. God does not want this world a righteous world now. He is giving believer's in Jesus Christ to battle through this hell on earth and inherit the New Kingdom, where there will be nothing but love, no pain, no sorrow.

It's the True God, and His True followers that will get this. Pick your God carefully. There is but..ONE.

Have a nice week.

Lack of respect towards each other religions causes all the wars and hatred..
If we learned about other people religions we will tend to understand why they do this and dont do that. We will also tend to respect and know their norms and values.
It doesnt mean if we learn about one religion we are interested in it but we just help our selves from being such an ignorance human being.

World PEACE

Those who believe in God because they are afraid of the consequences or those who have been thorughly indoctrinated act like that. There are some rational believers, who see past all the silly rituals and ceremonies, rules of conduct and church dogma and praise God in a more personal, closer way.
