Depends on the person personally I grew up in a convent very quiet and surreal.

Years later I was in prison and I spent 30 days in solitary very surreal but not so quiet. I had to keep talking to make sure I didn't lose my mind..Ironic isn't it?

It depends on the person. Right now I prefer to practice solitary. Later I'm sure I'll look towards a coven as I'm sure I still have a lot more to learn. Aislinn is correct that within a coven you can experience working with others energies and how to combine energies but as a solitary, there is much more personal freedom when you are working rituals and such. Let the Goddess guide your heart, Bright blessings!

Do you mean "Soiltary or Coven"?

If this is what you meant, I'd say you need both the experience of practicing alone & the experiences that are gained from practicing within a group. Often times those who join covens stop their own personal practice. Spirituality is a personal experience & I find it very important to maintain solitary practice once joining a coven.

If you mean coven or solitary then I say coven so you can work off of other's energy, play off one another, but solitary works for some too. It's preference really.
If you mean convent, then I say solitary...large groups of people dressed the same are scary

It depends on you (or the person contemplating such life). I think eventually you would need to try both religious lifestyles to determine which you feel comfortable in.

Sister Wendy (the art historian) tried both and is now in a solitary state interrupted by the occasional art program that she does.

Convent. There you are your own jailor. In solitary the state and prison guards are your keepers.

Permanently? Neither. Temporarily, I'd go for convent because it's very peaceful there.
