There was a question just posted, and one answer suggested that it should also be considered in reverse. I agree, and I'd like to see what you all think. I'm gonna rephrase it a bit.

Please keep in mind that this is a hypothetical. Don't get all hung up on the details, please.

If your daughter was dying and the only person who could save her demanded that you deconvert, leave your religion, and deny your God, would you do it?

If you don't, this person will refuse to save her and she will die. You would not have to stop believing "in your heart" but you would be required to talk and behave as if you really deconverted from your religion and denied your God.

One more thing... please play nicely when you answer. No need for hatefulness.

So... she'll be OK anyway, huh?

And what if she's an atheist? You would let her go to hell, then, and miss any further opportunity to be saved?

i don't have kids, yet. but i can guess the sentiments that would come with having a kid...

to save my daughter, i would probably do anything. well, not even probably, i would, 100% sure.

if i had to wipe a complete town from the face of this earth, i would probably do it. if i have to accept the devil as my saviour i would do it

my daughter would be the most important, and i don't even have her yet.

If I were to go to hell because of serving someone then I will go to hell, that is the religion my guru has inspired in me. So saving the life of my daughter will be first rather than my beliefs. I personally believe these religious conversions cant do anything to me. I will always be a Hindu.

Anyway its also my belief that a situation where I will have to convert will not arise.

Our guru Sri Ramakrishna has followed the many religious path and with his research came to the conclusion that all are leading to the same... He practised Islam, Christianity, Hinduism etc... So as a Hindu conversions arent of much a thing to me. I will still be a Hindu.

But if this happens in a muslim country, There is a lot of problems associated with this...say if you were to turn a muslim, your marriage with a Hindu will be void by the syariah law. It is very very complicated. It is also not possible to change your religion back in an Islamic country.

I dont think a person who demands such is capable of curing at all. I will not leave my daughter's life with such a fanatic.

And for your question the straight answer is...I will do anything that is good to save my daughter.

Your question has potrayed a cruel situation and I hope such a cruelty doesnt happen to anyone.

Not all atheists go to hell neither do all *other religions* You know the ones the christians condemened as heretics. heretic means chooser. I deconverted from christianity because I was in Odessa visiting family and my blood mother and aunt could not speak to each other because they both assumed the other was going to hell they are both christians of differing sects. after that i decided to check out the history of christianity. the things that were done in the name of Jesus were dispecable. I now see with open eyes that it is the religion that is bad and not the people. Unfortunately the religion does change a nice person into a total monster.

I say that your daugther comes first because the Gods and who is in power at the moment change like that. I know this because my husband is a spirit traveller.

In answer to the initial, straight question, hmmmm. I would probably not deny my beliefs. If some person "demanded" anything with some kind of bribe or blackmail attached, I'd probably tell that person to get screwed. Part of the world's problems revolve around this God thing. What a bunch of crap! I would wonder if many people alledgedly believing in "God" do so to deny their own (life) responsibilities? In the healing world, one can heal oneself with oneself, by oneself, if one knows how.

>If your daughter was dying and the only person who could
>save her demanded that you deconvert, leave your religion,
>and deny your God, would you do it?

This has happened numerous times. Many parents who belong to the "jehovah's witness" cult have been excommunicated for allowing blood transfusions. For the crime of saving their children's lives, they are "condemned to hell", and the children also often turn their backs on the parent who saved them.

No. My religion has been threw enough crap from other religions. I finally have the freedom to be able to practice in the open with little fear of being beaten up or killed for who I am and what I believe in. If my son were dying and the only person that was able to save him was a person who told me I had to change religions then My answer would be to tell the other person where to go. And that it wasn't very humanistic of them to be preaching what they themselves wouldn't practice.

No. I would never deny God. He is the reason for my breath, existence, my everything is in Him. If someone made such an offer, I would believe that God would create another way to save my daughter.

the straight answer is No, Never/Ever I would deny My GOD, Just have a strong belief and a true one, and you never have any doubts, and if that person refuses unless you convert then he is a fraud, coz all religions leads to the same God. unlike what many others believe

you must know that , if you turn your back on God, the time will come when He'll turn His back on you, and that will be the real tragedy.Just remember Abraham. He took his only son, Isaac, and listened to God whn He said to kill him. But, as the story goes on, God Himself rescued Isaac and blessed Abraham for his strong belive in Him...It was then when God started to call Abraham "his friend"... So, always trust your heart, cause your heart will alwayas tell yau not to turn your back on God. Cause when you turn back on youy God, you turn your back on everything that has a sense in life... You turn your back on your life!!!
