now yes there are so call freeware antivirus software out there. be warned these so called freeware software are often trojans that do the oposite of what they claim to do.
while it's not free you can download the best internet security package i've found that is under £50 for a years licence, the comaparable package from norton costs over twice the price.

i know your looking for freeware anti-virus but there are no known products that are better and easier to use than trend micro pccillin.

I have used AVG Anti-Virus for over 7 years without a single virus problem. Easy to install, easy to use.

you can go to download.com and get avg for free. That's what i use and it works as good as the ones for sale.
