i have a pretty bad cavity...deep, painful (like, starting to cause migranes, can't think of anything else it's so painful), pretty much the entire surface of my tooth (a molar) is a cavity. can anyone give me an idea of how much it'll cost (i'm not being cheap, i'd just like an idea)?

Cheap, pull it.

If salvageable, expect starting price of $1800 for root canal and crown.

Fillings can run anywhere from $75-$250. If the tooth needs a root canal, that can cost around $1000 and if it does need the root canal, it will need a crown as well which is another $800. Start saving up! Good luck

Ouch.

I had that happen. I needed a root canal. Make sure you get cavities treated ASAP. I waited years on mine (My family does not have insurance) and the dentist gave me an estimate of $2400 in cavities to fix all my teeth. PLUS I have gum disease (gingvitis) which sucks.

But What I gotta pay is what I gotta pay, right?

My root canal cost me $1950

If it is really that painfull, you will probably need it to be cleaned out, as well as have root treatment and a crown made. That can be very expensive. You can have emergency treatment for fee or cheaper, but all they do is dull the nerves and fill it with temporary filling, and the pain will be back in a few days. You might have an infection, too, so I definitely recommend going to see to it - even if temporarily....

If it's just the surface, it can be drilled and filled for $70-$100, but if you need a root canal, which is what it sounds like, then you're talking $800-$1400!...I had to get mine pulled for $200 because I just couldn't afford it.
