I'm from Singapore too. Seriously if u want to know more about LCD n plasma, simply buy a "What Video" magazine, it's a magazine with over 25 years of history on TV reviews. They even have a lab to do tests on new TV set. btw HD signals won't be starting in SG soon. so u can consider buy it maybe few years later as LCD price is dropping fast now. Seriously Panasonic plasma is awesome. maybe u can consider one.

LCD TVs only go up to a certain size. FOr 42 inch and above you're looking at Plasma TVs really!

I suggest for that kind of size you buy a High Definition projector which will give you better resolution compared to both LCD and Plasma. Plasma technology is quite old now

I have a 50inch Sony LCD that is magnificant. I am just starting to finish my basement and have picked out my tv for that already, it is another Sony. At this point, you need to make sure that whatever you buy is 1080p. Here would be my reccomendation:

LCD tvs that large are rear projection units. My opinion: the Sony SXRD (50" size minimum) is the best.
