When bars/restaurants have specials on well drinks, what qualifies?

well drinks are usually the low end liquor that a bar/restaurant serve. Because they are in the "well" in front of the bartender for easy pouring they are called well. Then you have Call, meaning the customer calls for it by name (as in I'll have a crown and coke) then you have top shelf, which is the high end stuff, most places put them up high to show off and advertise those liquors.
Next time you are in a bar/restuarnat, and you know the bartender/server well enough to ask, ask them to show you behind the bar.

Well drinks are made with off brand liquors. They are cheaper than the name brands like Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, etc. So the bar isn't taking a lose on "specials", it just make the customer feel like they are getting a bargain.

"Well" drinks are made with the liquor of the bars'/restaurants' choice -- usually whatever they have the most of or whatever they got the best deal on from their suppliers. For example if you order a bourbon and coke and you tell the waitress that a "well drink" is fine ... you might get a "jack and coke" or a "jim beam and coke" or any other bourbon and coke. If you want a "jack and coke", you need to order a "jack and coke".

Well drinks are bottom shelf. They call them well because they sit in a shelf which is called a well. These drinks are made w/the least exspensive liquor the bar/restaurant has and can purchase from vendors.

Drinks that feel good!!! No, just kidding, it just means that they are using cheap liquor in their drinks instead of something of quality.

It actually is an advertisement for a headache!!

All the people that answered "water" are morons.

Did BOG actually READ the question?????

If you order a "well" bourbon and coke, your not getting Jack or Jim, that guy doesn't know what he is talking about either....your going to get bottom of the barrel crap. Your not getting a name you ever heard of before!

Well drinks are bar choice drinks... usually not the best quality, Call drinks are brand name drinks, and Premium drinks... well... that ones obvious.

if you ever look behind the bar, most of the time near the sink, you will see a trough, or "well" that holds about 6-8 bottles. normally a rum, vodka, gin, tequila, a blended whiskey, triple sec. and some mixers, i.e. oj, cranberry, and sour mix. these are not name brand spirits.

Drinks is one of the important part of our meal. Water is still the best drink, but you can also drink wine, coffee, champagne, soda, juice, fresh fruit juice, or some alcoholic beverages like beer, or gin. Just remember that drink 8 glasses of beverages everyday or just water.
