They've banned major religious symbols in general, I believe, in places such as public schools and government buildings. So a Jewish man can't wear a kippah, Christians can't wear giant crosses, etc. And I think it's to help prevent discrimination in the work place, but I disagree.

The hatred of Islam and Muslims is endemic on the European psyche; endemic even if at times it becomes an epidemic. A country that accepts migrants, however conspicuously economic their primary motives, has the right to expect that they engage in some form of cultural migration as well
We have been asking is it Islam in the West or Islam of the West (Western Islam)? The answer is thrown on our faces every single day of our lives, in Spanish Inquisition style: "How dare you to be a Muslim in Europe Today?
Whether we look at the situation before and after the events of September 11, it is clear that for a significantly long period of time, interest in Islam in the West has been, for better or for worse, staggering. You cannot really conceive of going through a single day in your life anymore without seeing Islam somewhere in the spotlight. In the media, it is probably impossible, even if we limit ourselves simply to printed media in the United Kingdom, to find a day where there is not some sort of focus on Islam.
Anti-Islamism in a crusading West is part of an age old wider plan to eliminate Islam from the four corners of the Globe, or at the least reduce its impact to what have become the Christianity of today.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

i dont think we can hide any bomb under our veil cause it wasn't as big as women in Iraq or Palestine wear..anyway i dont really know the real reason however i think it must got to do with the attack of 9/11.
However, i think this is also due to the lack of understanding about Islam and the thing that we can and cant do.
Respect and know about other people religions doesn't mean that we are interested or want to convert into the religion but it help us from being ignorance human being.
Accept people the way they are not what we want them to be.

Because they want to create a neutral environment for the people of France, they do not wish to create any religions sentiments among the people, they have nothing against Islam.

First reason, that they are Muslims, and at present there is a war against Islam.
Second reason, many French and Westerns are jealous of our girls who do cover up, while there girls lost every thing, their clothes and whatever below them.

although I'm French, I don't agree on that ,and I think it's because they are hypocrites, they say they believe in freedom ,and when it comes to Islam they go against the simplest right that anybody has ,which is the freedom to wear whatever one wants as long as it's not offensive to others.
and also because they always go against Islam, because they are afraid from the Islamic spread in Europe.
