They are related, but the Tiger is from the same branch of the evolutionary tree as the Lion and Puma, whereas the House cat is descended from a desert cat from North Africa.

The cat family: they are all related. Watching my cats every day I can see many similarities. The hunting, the sleeping. the way they lay. tree sleeping. haunches, endless.
