LMAO...people on death row get really religious usually also if they become retarted or are beelieved to be then that could get them out of jail an into a mental hospital..it happens often where in a trial the defense attorney will claim that his client is retarted an therefore didnt mean to commit the crime an should be place in a mental hospital just so they can get out of jail time

I have never seen anyone become mentally retarded on command.
The definition of mental retardation and incompetency, etc. will vary by state.
Although, it comes as no surprise, that very many people on death row do have some form of mental illness and/or handicap (retardation).

I think that its a last ditch attempt for their life if there is something wrong with them (mentally or physically). Desperation can lead to some crazy thinking

Not really sure but my medical option would be sitting there knowing your gonna die and not sure of whats next. What I mean (for those who didn't understand) is you know when your gonna die but not where you will end up.....Or down
