why cant you understand? or you just shut your whole heart and mind about that situation?

I'm not an atheist... but I'll take the hypothetical anyway and pretend that I'm being asked to convert to a particular religion, being as I am not religious at all. The question is, after all, would I convert and practice a belief system different from my own to save my daughter.

Well, of course I would, generally speaking... but would it matter? As you say... if there's a God, He would know that I didn't really begin to believe anything different, and I'd probably make him that much more angry with me. I'd do an awful lot for a child of mine.

I've decided to pose the question that gwad suggested, as I'd like to know what other religious people think. :)

There's a brain donor joke in here somewhere... I just know it. Oh, there it is! First, find yourself a brain donor, then realise how idiotic this question is. A living person is going to donate their heart... right. You know what? I can still answer this; Absolutely not. A person who is going to let someone else die simply so they can force their religion on just one more person is not going to get ANYTHING from me.

Edit: Did you people who are agreeing even read this? It's a HEART, people. Just suspending reality for a moment and assuming this idiotic situation would ever take place, you'd be KILLING him to save your daughter. Now while I may not have a problem with that, being rather selfish and all, shouldn't you christians answering yes be ashamed of yourselves?

Oh, I have no doubt that a christian can murder someone to save their daughter. Hell, if they can murder someone to further their beliefs I'm sure they can do it to save their daughter. A "good" christian though? If selfishness and murder is "good" in christianity then no wonder it's so f'ed up.

Think of this for a second. There is a distinct difference between believing in a god and believing a god. Then make a desicion on the fact that in the example given, there is a life on the table and then also that privately even the most devout of saints can fall away from faith. ( I could tell the pope that I were his strongest follower, and he would only be able to take my past as an example.)

An atheist doesn't believe in God, so why wouldn't he "convert" to save a life?

I'd agree to "convert" to Catholicism, Baptist, Mormon, Satanism or whatever if it would end human suffering. But, it would be of no consequence. So, I would be giving up nothing for much gain.

The question is illogical and based on a false assumption.

You also appear to be functionally illiterate. Even your comments are nonsensical.

yeah i would, for the sake of my daughter however, i would not participate 100% nor would I go out and convert others.

Let's reverse the question what if an Atheist was the only one who would save your daughter and ask to renounce your faith and belief in god on national television? care to answer that?

Straight answer? The system doesn't work that way. A heart donor has no say as to the recipient, who is to be anonymous, each to the other.

Isn't one of the rules we are told to live by is to Do unto others, as we would have others do unto you? Would you reverse your question and give up your faith to save your child? If not, you are not God's man of Mercy. There are better ways to help others to see the Light. This is not one of them. The better way would be to show him God's love, not shove it down his throat. Straight answer my Bible! That dear sir is a loaded baiting question, asked to create dissension.

I think it would all come down to what you wanted. You love your kid right so you say okay. You however say you'd give the christain thing a trial and you do and see how it works out. Being a christain isnt so bad.
