Male or Female?

I've found that girls are easier than boys, but I'm not a big believer in Pull-ups, because they feel just like a diaper, so there really is no consequence for not making it to the potty... If you are at home, it's easy to just let them run around in panties or thicker training underwear, or better yet, nude. Then, when they have an accident, they will learn from it.. yes, it's a little messy, but they seem to get the idea quicker. Also, encourage them to sit on the potty from time to time .. give them a drink or a book to look at and make them sit for a few minutes... Once they have made peepee in the potty, make a REALLY big deal out of it and cheer them on and then say "Bye" to peepee when you flush... This is all fun for them and they will want to repeat the experience. I just finished potty training my two-almost three year old girl, and at first she wasn't too hip to the idea, but she caught on after a few days, and now she does not wear a diaper during the day.

Buy a kid size potty ring. It fits right over the adult one. A little step stool will also help. And training shorts of super heros. Or little panties for little girls. Tell the child to pee in the potty not on the super heros or flowers. use pullups at night. Take the potty ring with you when you go visiting. And be paitent! If the child sits long enough give them a little picture book to look at while in the bathroom. Because of the age it shouldn't take to long. Good luck.

Everytime you go to the bathroom let them see what your doing. keep a potty chair of their own in their and let them sit on it. dont make them sit there for a long time. It just builds up an aversion for what can be an easy process if your just patient and too many people think making a kid live on a potty is the way to do it. Thats all I can remember its been a long time since I potty trained anyone. Good luck.

As alot of Mom's have said the Cherrios works....I have also found that books & rewards work too.....saying Bye Bye to the potty.......all good helpful hints.....
With my son....I also did food coloring in the toilet....made the water a different color everytime he went....it flulshes down & doesnt stain the toilet....cleans up with toilet cleaner....
Also Toy R Us & WalMart carry potty training "floats"....you can point them in the toilet & allow the boys to use for target practice....
With my Daughter...we put some of her favorite toys next to her potty chair...whenever she went to the bathroom...she would pick out a toy to play with while she was going.....then she would put the toy back when she was done....
Be creative....BUT...dont rush them....not all kids are easy to potty train...boys seem to be harder then girls....My son was close to 4 & my daughter was 2.....just be patient....
GOOD LUCK!

My mom told me the other day how she got me potty trained, it seemed so silly to her, but it worked 100%. And she showed me only once. This might sound terrible, but I don't know how else to explain it in a nicer way.... She took a plastic doll, and filled it with water, and made a hole so it could "pee" and then called me to watch as the doll was doing it. I apparently watched it, and from that day on, I was potty trained. I don't know if this will work with your little one, but it worked for me.

Invite over other children that are near the child's age over the house to play and interact with your child that are already potty trained. The child will want to act like the other children and use the toilet like his/her friends. This way you can introduce the child to this habit by demonstration and example. TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO< AND then Praise and reward when they do what you want them to do what is expected of them. IT works well. Never scold or yell at the child. Offer encouragement only. Rebecca Pickford.

Boy or girl?

Boy ... put cheerios in the bowl & tell him to sink them.

Girls ... pretty much potty train themselves. Just take them to the potty often.

I like the cheerios, though warm water works really well even when the urge is not present. You can teach them by sitting them down in the bathroom every once in a while and poor warm water on them.
