There are many ways to fight clinical depression--too many to address in a small space. One book that is helpful is called "Undoing Depression." Another, "Making Sense of Suffering," is very good. There is another great book called "The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression," which gives all sorts of information about this history, treatment, symptoms, etc., etc., of depression. It can help to know that you're not alone. Seeing a psychiatrist who is competent and will work to find the right combination of psychoactive medication is a good idea. Also, a support group coupled with individual therapy can be useful. If you also have a substance abuse problem, addressing that is vital. Talking with people who have had serious depression and who have recovered is essential to provide you with hope that you too can and will recover.

I have been fighting my depression for several years. I first was ashamed to admitt it now that I have come to terms with my depression and friends and family know they are able to help me when I am struggling. I have been to therapy...it was helpful but I have best been helped by the use of antidepressants. I have used several different meds. until I found the one that works best for me. Some days are a struggle but I am feeling 100% better. It also helps to have an excellent support system i.e family, friends, clergy.

go talk with your doctor, he or she can determine how serious it is, then depending on your age, you can be diagnosed properly. Exercising helps create endorphins which is a chemical in your brain, that allows people to be happy and not depressed. You can always write down what is wrong and see how you can fix it in a rational manner. You can also talk to your school counselor, parent, or a therapist, to help with dealing with what ever it is that has caused you to have depression. A number of things you can do, best thing to do, is talking things out with a trusted one, then you aren't bottling it inside making things worst! Good Luck!

Everyone is diff. I've been through depression before, and tried anti depressants. Well they did work, but at the end of the day what helped me get through it and move on was my attitude and learning to take things day by day. I changed my attitude, stoped the anti depressants, and now when I'm stressed I just take things day by day. It did wonders for me, and think anyone who goes through those times should at least give this a try. After all when you at that point, well at least for me...........anything was worth a try to feel normal again.

Believe in and trust the God that created you and loves you very much. I know it's a tough battle but knowing that God has a plan for your life makes all the difference. I still feel depressed from time to time but I always bring my sadness to God and ask Him to lift it from me and miraculously it goes away. This is something that I am not able to do on my own, it is God taking my sadness and replacing it with His peace.
So I will be praying that you will find your way out of this depression though God and for continued peace and joy.

SAM-e and St. John's Wort. Take one of each twice a day. You should notice a difference in a few days. Both are available at Wal-mart.
