winkipinki,
Of course that's where most of them come, because we have more than 11 million here illegally. Had there been another boundary separating Mexico and the U.S. (such as an ocean), other countries would have been on an even playing field. And yes, the largest minority has shifted over the years, mainly because of the illegal immigration...

sinful_x_kiss,
Are you kidding me? Where were you in 1986 when Congress approved amnesty for the millions already here? I'd say that's "special" treatment, more than any other country has ever received in those numbers. Being next to us definitely has more advantages than disadvantages, mainly because the U.S. government has allowed it to sneak by and occur for so many years. Now that it's out in front of national attention, the problem will hopefully be corrected where it started with the politicians. Once the leak is fixed, then we'll worry about the mess.

Smokie,
Those are some good points, and most peeps that are against illegal immigration would agree with you. It is possible to be against illegally crossing our border, but at the same time, support Mexicans for who get here legally. That's not a racist or prejudicial stance. We're all about them waiting in line just like everyone else around the world.

Mexicans don't get all the special treament, trust me.
Cubans , if they touch U.S. soil, get automatically in....
Other countries like El Salvador get special permission that let's them stay in the country legally, Mexicans don't. I don't remember what it's called, but Ill post it later.

Because they are next door and are so many, it actually works againts them and they get less special treaments in the immigration terretory.

On the face of it, I don't think they do, they are just the largest number of people, and whatever applies to them in the end will apply to everyone. No one is going to pay attention to a small group of people to see what laws need to be fixed - they'll concentrate on the largest of the group first.

I think it's because that's where most of our immigrants come from.
Hispanics are quickly becoming the largest group of minorities in the united states. Even out ranking African Americans

Maybe because they too have been part of the backbone of "this" country, just as the Chinese helped build some of our railroads. Maybe "we" feel we owe them. Many of them are much harder workers, & take great pride in their work, & maybe they don't complain, or if they do it's in Spanish & we don't know what they're saying. Who really knows &/or understands why there is so much damned prejudice!
