If you heard a joke before it is old news. Repeat that a few times and it 'really gets old'. Like knock-knock jokes told by your little sister who thinks responding with the name of anybody she knows is funny.

Like your grandpa telling the same war-story every single Christmas.

The friendly but fake smile of the Avon-lady that still visits you although she knows you will never buy anything.

Episode 800 of the A-team.

When someone repeats a joke for example, over and over and over again. It just get's "old". Make sense? After a while, it's not funny anymore.

It's like the kids saying "are we there yet?" every hour on your 1,000 miles car trip. It's almost time to kill them. Or you hear a joke once and they repeat it again and again.
