I honestly feel that the secret to real happiness is finding true love. Also finding out that you made a difference is someones life for the better. I feel that true happiness can only be found in those who do not put there selves first and people who are not doing there utter best to find it. True happiness is on the border between love and faith. If you have both then you have happiness.

I agree that true happiness is loving and accepting yourself, those around you and feeling that you are doing what you were born to do.
I found that learning the history of my parents childhood and actually seeing them as children helped me see that what they did in my childhood was not intentional and in fact was greatly improved over their own experiences.
I have also come to the place where I don't feel responsible for keeping other's lives afloat at the expense of my own well being. We all have life lessons to learn and my "help" was actually impeding that process for them. Learning when to help and when to step back.
Now as to how to feel happiness right now! Get in a quiet place and start a list.....I use my computer .........of the last thing that made you happy........don't go beyond the moment....just stay with that memory.........write it down......describe how it made you feel, why it made you feel, .........when you are done with that.....go to the next most recent..........eventually you will work your way back to memories you didn't realize you had.......Don't allow those bad memories to filter in. You have control over what you let stay in your mind and what you dismiss.
Happy memories can be something as simple as a stranger's smile........a beautiful flower in the middle of a concrete parking lot......the smell of your mother's perfume. Then when you need it read the list....add to it at the end of the day. Remember...Only good things.....we are programmed by society to hold on to the bad and the hurt..........prime example is the news....seldom do you see the good things people are doing.

The real secret is that happiness is a choice. you can feel joy and happiness whenever you like, through choosing to be happy.
3 things effect our mental state.
1 our posture, motion leads emotion.
2 our mental focus. what we are thinking about.
3 the language and specific words we use to describe what we are thinking about.
so, 1. change your posture to a happy one, head up, shoulders back, smile.
2. Focus on something that makes you happy. plan something fun, or remember a time when you where really happy and get back 'into that moment'
3. use positive language to describe what you are focused on.
If you are not feeling happy, asdk yourself if you are enjoying it. if not, than change your state.

Ever have a really painful toothache?
True happiness is not having a toothache.
In the meantime, do some volunteer work or give to charity. Seriously, you'll feel it.

Learn to be content with what you get, and have.
Learn to forgive, and forget.
Learn to share what little, or lot, that you have, with others who could use some of it too - be it money, materials, or even just simple, comforting words.
And, please do not envy others' material wealth, when you do not even know how low they had to stoop, just to acquire it.
...Happiness will be all yours !
