I might get alot of people POed because of this, but...

You need to realize that "The Bible" was actually written by "real people-real men". So "these men" are the ones who made homosexuality "seem bad".

No one can prove that anything ever written anywhere or any place was written by a God or Goddess or The Divine.

If they tell you that they can prove it, then tell them to go on CNN News and prove it to the entire world because everyone would stop and watch and listen.

I thought that all religions teach and preach that "God Loves All of Us...Every Person, Every Being, Every Creature, and Every Living Thing."

I, also, believe that alot of Religions say what they say, and teach what they teach so, hopefully, people will live and conduct themselves in a way that these Religions "approve of" and that these Religions would actually have people living there lives the way that these Religions "want them to live their lives" and the way that these Religions "prefer them to live their lives".

I think it's all about keeping people in line.

I'm heterosexual, but I think that if you have two or more consenting adults that want to engage in whatever type of activity...as long as no one gets hurt and everyone is in agreement, and as long as there is a certain level of respect and consideration...then just do it and try to enhance your life and the lives of others.

When you actually do enhance someone else's life, well, it makes me feel really good inside.

I wish that everyone would try to enhance everyone else's life in a sincere way if that chance falls in front of you...no need to go out of your way...unless you choose to :)

Homosexuality was very common..in most cultures prior to Christianity. The reason it was done away with by the chair was for procreation purposes. If people were aloud same sex relationships....THERE WOULD BE NO BABIES!!!! Rome needed babies to expand It's empire...hence the homosexual bit! Keep in mind the bible that you read is not the original version. It's was edited severly along the way, copied in error into other languages and that King James really amde some edits to save his empire. The bible is a man mae story book. The soner everyone figures this out, the sooner also this nonsense about gay marriage and homosexuals and abortions and the liek will stop.

The Bible started from the Hebrew traditions and writings. The Hebrews had to wander the desert for many years and had a rough time of it. Moses knew that it would be rough, that is why he 'streamlined' the Hebrew culture down to one god, Yahweh, and made the Ten Commandments. A tribe of ex-slaves who knew almost nothing about surviving in a desert needed to have social conhesion. They all needed to agree on almost everything. This need for conformity brought the whole issue of Authority to be very important. People who were born with orientations that fell outside the norm were seen as non-conformists and thus anti-Authority and a threat to the tribes survival. The Middle East is not a very tolerant place even on a good day. The human spirit is universal and there are religions all over the world that have nothing to do with the Middle East or Middle Eastern culture. Dont trap yourself into what your parents told you.

I think that even if you accept the bible as being mainly true, you need to accept the fact that it's thousands of years old (especially the old testament) and has been translated and changed and mistranslated and had bits put in and bits taken out, over and over again.

I think it is entirely possible that the meaning of many things has been skewed over time and that sometimes the text has been manipulated to suit individual ends.

If you are homesexual yourself and are asking this as you are worrying about your sexuality, please ignore Nick's answer above. Some people are sadly lacking in understanding and compassion and you should pity them. There is nothing wrong with being homosexual, no matter what some book says about it.

By the way, King James didn't actually translate the bible himself - he granted the use of a translation that had actually originally been done in the time of Charles I (many people had been called heretics and executed for the translation of the bible into English - for a very long time the Church did not want ordinary people to have access to the bible for themselves. Access to the bible - opportunity to make up your own mind, you see. If a priest is the only one who can read it, he can tell people what to think. Interesting, isn't it?)

Angels are abound, every where you turn.

I believe that the hatred of homosexuals was created out of fear and the unknown. It has only become an issue because the "New" "Born Again" Christians are fatalists and they want to force the fear of "then end" and "Judgement" down on people so they can control the earth.

Society hasn't learned a thing about religion and what religion means. My lover passed on May 7th and I let the Angels in to comfort him. I wouldn't have believed the story myself, but it happened to us, and I am thankful. If he was a bastard sinner, why were the Angels here to take him out of the pain and suffering that he'd been in for the last year and a half?

I think the religious right has forgotten that Christ died on the cross because the people judged him for the special person he was, what makes you religous freaks and followers any better by judging us, or any one for that matter? Who the hell are you to tell me what is right and what is wrong?

I'm gay, and I can tell you the bible, as well as the specific scripture regarding homosexuality, is a big crock. I specifically remember being attracted to other boys at the age of 4 or 5, so for this BOOK to tell me that it's a sin, and I'm going to hell, is ridiculous. The bible is infamous for it's contradictions, and lack of logic.

According to the bible... Those who tell a lie, steal something, cheat on their spouse, or use profanity shall be put to death by stoning. Now, how logical is that?

I don't think it's an issue of true or untrue. It's a matter of translation and interpretation.

The scriptures were taken from ancient documents written in ancient languages. Many groups have added their own interpretation to their meaning which is why we have so many different forms of religions and Christian denominations.

Even if it is true and you believe it, consider this. Along with homosexuals go the multitude of heterosexuals that have sex out of wedlock as well as married people that have oral sex (sorry folks its still sodomy according to the good book), as well as any married couple that uses birth control or otherwise has sex just for sexual pleasure. All these people are going to hell if gays do so join the freakin club hellbound.

The Bible didn't just pick on homosexuality, it says adultery, greed. lust, covetness, hatred, are all sins, and lead to death. The reason homosexuality is getting so much attention lately is because many homosexuals are trying to convince us it is not a sin or wrong in any way.

Not exactly sure what the context of you question is based, but homosexuality is wrong. I believe it is in Leviticus where it mentions homosexuality's punishment is death and that their blood will be on their own hands.

Nowadays, homosexuality is accepted by society and there is no death punishment, however, just because it is ok with society does not mean it is ok with God. He will deliver His judgment on all evil doers: "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6: 9,10

Ask God for forgiveness and turn away from homosexuality.
