We've been going out for a while now, and I think I love him, but somehow can't tell him that. Do I need to, will that make any difference, or should I just keep it to myself?

Because rejection sucks! When I was first dating my husband, I knew I loved him pretty quickly (about a month or so). I was so scared to tell him I loved him since I had never said it to anyone else. His response was, "Oh, I hope you don't get hurt." Not very romantic. I still tease him about it. It really hurt back then.

If it makes you too nervous to tell him, you might just want to wait until he is in the same place as you. If it is a long haul relationship, at some point, he'll realize he loves you to and he will tell you. Then you don't have to worry about the rejection.

I know how you feel.
YOu shouldn't say it until you are sure you mean it, and you are comfortable with it. Maybe it's you thinking he might not say it back,b ecause that can happen. Take your time. I know to some people saying I Love You means nothing, but to others like yourself and myself it means so much. If you really like him, and think you love him, wait until you are sure.

If he appreciates those three words, it will actually make a difference. If he is ready, he will reply, if he isn't. he might not and that may hurt you. The relationship might still be the same, but it depends on how both of you feel.

If you go for it don't do it with any expectations except courtesy. Loving someone will not make them love you. It should be seen as a beautiful gift you are giving! Just be free when you do it. Let go of pride and thoughts of future arrangements. Make sure you don't ever second guess yourself on this one even if the guy is a jerk. You know you can love and that makes you a beautiful human being.

You are afraid to tell him your feelings about him because of fear of rejection. Somewhere at the back of your mind, you are afraid he may not accept you. But don't keep it to you. It is possible that he too loves you but is also afraid like you. One of you will have to break the ice. There are many subtle ways to tell a person that you love him/her. Remember, it is better to try and fail rather than not trying at all. Go ahead, think of a ingenuous way to convey your feelings to him. I am sure he will reciprocate. Best of luck.

I made the mistake of saying, "I THINK I love you." It only put pressure on me to say the real thing and I found out later I didn't love him at all. Make sure it's not something less.

Maybe you are just afraid of commitment. Think long and hard about what he means to you....and if you would be whole if you lost him. Because eventually you will have to tell him how you feel.

Your afraid he won't say it back. You don't need to say it and it may not make a difference but if you do say it and he doesn't respond you may know your wasting your time and move on
