Like I said on my last question I'm researching a religion and thinking of joining. Anyways, I believe in evolution. There is proof for it. So can I believe in god if I believe in evolution? Or do I have to choose?

God could have been the power that started the Big Bang....that put the amoeba on the earth. Evolution can go hand in hand with religious beliefs.

Yes. First, there are many versions and different beliefs in God. I'm assuming you're meaning, at least a variety of, the Christian God. Many people interpret the bible (perhaps) too literally. You can believe in Evolution very easily and still have faith in God, my favorite way is just to consider that God is all powerful, and all knowing, and created the world and the universe and everything with all the evidence for evolution included... a staged history if you will. To me that kinda makes the most sense but there is also the idea that Time to God is very different than it is to us and therefore what would be "six days" to God might be eons and eons to us. With that in mind it could have included evolution in the creation process as well, without having that negative "staged history" idea. I do like this second theory because it allows me to argue that God did make us in His image and his image was a primate... then we evolved. J/K but seriously, if you really want to think about it you can believe both, just too many people don't really think about it (it is easier with Faith)

Evolution all by itself simply means that the body of lifeforms can adapt to the changing environment gradually over time through genetics and selective trait passing. It is a fact and proven and no one really argues it. Different religious groups accept different degrees of this. The argument comes in how for these changes stretch.

Fundamentalists believe that each species started this way so only small amounts of adaptation are possible. So you can't believe in evolution as a Christian fundamentalist. Evidence is not on their side however.

Catholics say you can believe in evolution of the body but not the soul. So for example man could have had more primate-like features at some point but he couldn't have started out as an aquatic bacteria. They are are trying to stay in a safe place, not accepting any more of the theory than they must given overwhelming evidence and not refuting anything in the Bible either.

Other more modern groups of Christians believe in evolution. They must give some creative interpretation to the book of Genesis. Others say it just isn't that important and ignor the topic altogether. You just have to find a religion that makes sense to you.

Evolution is a social Darwinian concept. It was created due to scietific thought. The Word of God is based on faith. You must believe the word totally to serve God. Now there is a type of evolution for animals plant life and humans. When Noah's sons departed from the ark, the three races began: Mongoloid, *******, and Caucaziod. If you can accept that all people have different skin tones and come from one set of people Adam and Eve, then you can reconclie your belief with the Word. As far as us coming from monkeys, that is totally off base. God created man in his image by his word. You must believe this to believe the Bible. Also, think about it. Why would God need a monkey to create a man?

Sure, if you want, go for it. It's called intelligent design. In a nutshell it says "evolution exists, it's god's tool for creating life". Personnaly I think it's better just to admit that you don't know, instead of filling in the blanks with god and pretending to know the answers, but hey, I'll take what I can get. Don't ignore the truth, at least.

thegreatwhitehype18 I will never understand how you actually got into the top 10 in this section when all that seems to come out of you are 5 or less word answers and insults. It's almost enough to make me beleive in miracles. Not quite, but close.

Half the Christians in the world are Catholic. The Catholic Church has no problem with evolution. I was taught that it is correct in my Catholic High School and by a Priest/PhD Biologist at a Catholic University. Even the last Pope revealed himself as a believer.

It is just a small minority of Christian Extremists who insist on reading the early part of the Bible literally who believe in creationism.

The irony here is that those same people do not believe in Transubstantiation (the bread and wine turning into the body and blood of Jesus). So, they say you should take the Bible literally -- unless it is Jesus speaking, at which time you take it symbolically.

There are a few questions that evolutionists cannot answer, whereas belief in an all creating, all knowing God leaves no questions unanswered. For instance, an evolutionist cannot answer exactly at what point this primordial soup became living. When any question comes up about how God did something or when = faith! Evolutionists believe that the universe started by a speck of dust exploding...... who made the dust? And why do they still call it a universe: uni= one verse= spoken sentence. My advise for you is to go to www.drdino.com and seek for answers there. Good luck, Josh

I agree with Frodo. To me, the Big Bang Theory sounds a lot like "let there be light."

I can see evolution fitting into the Biblical account. The Bible says animals were created, then humans later.

I personally try not to worry too much about the whole debate, because whether evolution did or didn't happen, I know creation did happen. We are here.

If you do not stand for something you will fall for anything. Its according to how far you want to fall. You cannot be in two places at the same time, its immpossible.Read Genesis, then read Darwin.I believe in Genesis. Not to KNOW everything is bliss.I don't question Gods process.According to what I believe I will evolve into a new creature when my earthly body dies and I go to meet the creator face to face then I can find out all the answers to my questions..Peace and God be with you!!

You can believe that evolution exists, but you can't believe evolution was responsible for creating humans and other living creatures. Evolution obviously takes place, there's no argument over that. The argument is over whether or not it is responsible for the creation of living beings.

Yes you can. Solar nuclear radiation is the single most contributing factor to evolution. God created the lights in the sky. Man can intercept evolution or use it. God can intercept evolution too. Inbreeding causes evolution which can degrade man's ability for intelligence. God provides guides to prevent inbreeding. Nonetheless your religion has the right to dictate doctrine for itself.
