My ENT guy says I have a small one about the size of a pencil lead in the back of my throat. He throws in, almost nonchalantly, as I am leaving, that sometimes these turn out to be cancerous but it is "very rare".

Pappiliomas can be found in many parts of the body. There has been a lot in the news lately about papillomavirus causing cervical cancer. But there can also be papilloma lesions in the repiratory tract, GI tract, etc. They can be pre-cancerous and usually be need to be checked by your physician occasionally to be sure there isn't change or growth. are you sure he didnt mean polyps because pappilomas are warts
