For starters, do rags really do nothing for the TOP of your head, as they really only cover the sides really well. I would tell you to opt for a wave cap. As ghetto as it may seem, I will take it one step further. Ask a female family member if you can have a pair of their stockings, cut a section (any section you feel will fit your head) usually one of the leg sections AND wear a do-rag over that for TIGHT waves!

Use CLEAR gel. It has less alcohol. Less alcohol means less drying. You do NOT want crusty waves !
Isoplus has great clear gel. You can also use sculpting gel. when using that, brush really hard to lay them then put on your "head gear". They sell both ISOPLUS and many different sculpting gels at ur local walgreens, kmart,walmart or rite aid!

you hair needs to be at the very least type 3a-4c hair if not it will be very hard/ immposible to get good lookin waves other wise it will not look like his because he is african american and white and his hair is naturally curly. I would know about this because im half african and half white i was born with type 4 hair aka kinky/coils/naps it can also be done with type 3 hairs other wise youll have waves but it wont be visible.

du rag is what you need for the waves. the cap was for gheri curls. Making Waves hair grease in the black can works well for the waves.
