It is when your body isn't pulling out the vitamins from what you are eating. It isn't a good sign. If it is still happening after a few days, go see your doctor.

"Bright green stools
Question
Just recently my stools have been a very bright green and quite loose.
Although at first this wasn’t happening on every bowel movement, for the past four days it has been.
Apart from that my general health is fine. Can you please advice me of what might cause this and should I see a doctor?
Answer
This is most likely an infection. Although you are feeling fine I still think it is worthwhile having it checked.
Your doctor will want you to give a sample of the stool and he will supply you with a special container - I know, YUK! However, if he sends that off to the lab they'll be able to tell if there is a specific infection.
Yours sincerely
Dr Bob Leckridge, GP"
(I believe GP to mean "Gastrointestinal Pathologist)
I work in a hospital (psych unit) and can corroborate this testimony. Unusual stools get sent to the lab for testing. you should definititely have it checked out. If it turns out you have an infection you *might* get prescribed an antibiotic. good luck.

There are several reasons, like too much iron or lots of vegatables, even too much green food coloring. It can often occur with diarrhea. If it last more than a 5-7 days, contact your doctor. Probably just something you ate, but it's always good to ask a professional!

Healthy people can have green poop if they eat a diet rich in leafy green vegetables, or if they consume large quantities of food coloring.
