Check to see if there is a local "head start" program in your community. These nationally recognized programs help children get ready for school with daily activities and lesson plans. You shouldn't have to take out a second mortgage to prepare your child for school. Also, be aware that not all children are ready for a rigid, all-day, structured environment at such a young age. Take clues from your child and see if just some quality hands-on teaching time with a caring parent might prepare him or her the best. Here is a site that might be of interest to you. Good luck!

I would contact the local preK schools and see what they offer, usually a very fee for someone with qualifying income. Also some school districts are setting up programs at school..ask them. My son just finished the program and can read most Dr Sues type books unaided!!! I highly recommend them!

You will need to do more research. Go to your local elementary schools in your district (yellow pages anyone?), go to the Welfare Office and ask for help or ask around to people who are parents with kids in school about where they put their kids.
