My brother joined the airforce and has been in bootcamp for a couple of weeks now. I would like to understand what exactly goes on during bootcamp for the men. Two of my cousins who are girls joined the airforce and they enjoyed it, but I know it is different for the men than the woman. I would like to know your stories. Thank you!

As someone who went through it my best advise is to send him letters. No matter how long or short he will LOVE to read them...To answer the question, I think this website will help. It is four parts (many pages) but will go indepth on what is going on for him.

Really what he does every day is gets up at 6, sings the air force song, marches places sometimes getting shots, sometimes learning stuff, and sometimes just to move around. He is probably being yelled out allot and he is probably starting to figure out the best ways to avoid it. When he gets home each evening he is learning how to fold closes into little 4 inch squares and he is learning ways to get around all of the little things the Drill instructors are beating him into.

When he gets out in 4 more weeks he is going to be a new man a little jumpy at first and will probably say sir and mam to just about everyone he sees. As time passes he will probably think it was the funniest thing that he had ever been trough.

Thank you Brother for his service and don't let him convince you that he is having that rough of a time cause it will get better

AIR FORCE basic training is the easiest of all military training. His days will be very busy from start to finish. The air force is more concerned about academics then how fit or how well an individual can shoot the m-16.He will learn self respect and respect for others. He will learn a trade that will carry into his civilian life.I learned how to cook in the AF and carried it over to the army and am well respected for my knowledge in that field.I also cook in the civilian world and am very thankful for the training i received.Tell your brother i said good luck and god speed.

P.S.I just returned from IRAQ and didn't cook anything.

No big deal. But, yes, do write him letters. Probably pretty well settled in by this point. It's honestly not a lot different for the women. I hear they are doing some small unit tactics stuff now though so that might even be fun. Don't worry too much, it isn't that hard.
