I agree, people worship Jesus and Pastors/Ministers/Bishops/Popes/. Per God's word in the "original" Bible false Idols are Blasphemous. That has never sat well with me. As the "original" Bible stated "God is within you". Making everyone God. Meaning you have the power. I am not religious, religion is such a crock! I have studied many religions and all seem to have been basically enacted to stop humans from animalistic behavior by scaring them. All religion was created for was to keep order, stating that if you acted un-Godly you would end up in an Eternal Hell. The only problem with this is that nature still exists. In nature animals kill, rape, are homosexual, and live un-Godly. Yet most say all of God's creaturs end up in Heaven. HUH? Just live by the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you). Not for God's sake, but it really does make life easier. If you yell at someone they will yell back, if you reason with someone they will reason with you.

first of all, we're not worshipping the flag, we are "pledging our allegiance to it" and in doing so honoring God as well. (one name, under God)
The country actually recognizes flag burning as a distress signal, and most people are bothered my it only because they see it as dishonor/disrespect to the US, however, if they knew the true intentions by the flag burner, they may even have similar beliefs.
We don't need crosses to show faith, it is just a symbol that has been around for a long time that reminds people of what they believe in.
No, they don't "create" a jealous God. God claims to be jealous when others are put before him.

Everything is open to over interpritation. When we salute the flag, we are not worshiping anything. We are simply acnolodging all of the men and women that fought and died to get us the freedom that we have today. By burning the flag, we are saying that they died in vein, and that we don't care about the freedoms that we have. If not for those soldiers, we would be flying a British flag. There would still be slavery. We would not have religiouse freedom to argue about. We would not have the freedom of press for the reporters and media to complain with. We wouldn't have the right of free speech that the flag burners hide behind. It was the brave soldies that stood up to fight from the begining of this country to for the rights that we take for granted, and it is the soldier that stands as a deturant from anyone trying to take that away from us just so some ignorant hippies can burn the symbol that represents what they have done. I had a friend in basic training that was muslim, and due to religious rights, he did not have to salute the flag. he said that he was not allowed to acknoladge any false symbols. But by the end of basic training, he said he still couldn't salute the flag, but he could look at it with pride to acknoladge what the soldiers before us had died for.

If the phrase, "under God", was taken out of the pledge of allegiance then we might be considered to be worshiping an image.
People are hung up about flag burning because of all the war memories that it stirs up. Reminding us all about the tremendous sacrifices others have made.
We don't need crosses to show faith. An outward wearing of a cross means nothing, look at Madonna! The true outward showing of your faith is obeying God's commandments and witnessing for Christ.
God is "jealous" if we set up idols instead of giving to God what belongs to God. God wants our Love and devotion. An idol can be anything, money, job, car, possessions. Some love their idols more than God and you can not fool God, He knows.

The US Flag is a symbol for what America and it's citizens stand for, world wide. Burning the flag is the same as saying that the US is wrong to promote freedom, free choice, and democracy worldwide. Allegiance is not worship. In all Christian marriage ceremonies, don't you pledge allegiance to each other?
As for the cross, I'm sure that all the Muslims, Jews, and Buddhists in the world, couldn't care less about it, and still have belief in their faiths. And if I remember my 7 deadly sins, isn't jealousy one of them? Are you saying that we are creating a God who is a sinner. Tsk, tsk.

i think your questions are absoloutley amazing, and i have an answer.. but not a very good one. the flag and the cross are both just symbols, and we need symbols to help us define exactly what we believe in... so i guess thats why we pledge allegiance to the flag, and pray to the cross. But it depends what you place first.. the flagg... or the crosss. Im dont think God would be mad if you pledged allegiance to the flag, but as long as you prayed to the cross first, and put God higher than the flag in your values. im not sure this made sense. hahahah.

When we pledge allegiance we are not worshiping the flag we are saying that we will be loyal to it while keeping in mind that our nation was built upon God and Christianity and should stay that way.

Pledging allegiance and worshipping are two totally different things. Crosses remind us of the sacrifice of God...and I don't think He gets jealous...

There is the law of man and the Law of God.
Seems to me the law of man is always trying to replace God's law.
I do not pledge allegiance to any flag! Neither are any of these politicians my leaders.
Bless!
I dont think God is jealous...of what? Jealousy is a selfish feeling.
Another one...How can you love your enemy and make war?
