Yeah they're are alot of crazy people out there in cyberspace, but I think some people look for relationships online because they're tired of looking in person (within a limited area) with no results. Through the net people can meet a variety of people in other states and countries that maybe they wouldn't have met any other way. Just an idea though. I'd personally take my chances looking for someone in person rather than online...but that's me.

There is nothing wrong with people making initial contact via the web. The problem I see is when they meet, if they expect the other just as they are portrayed on the web they are in for a let-down or worse.

I know a several couples who have met thru the web and 2 that have been married for over 7 years a third that dated IRL for 3 years and are now married 3 years.

On the other hand I know a young woman who nearly was raped as a result of trusting what the guy told her on the web and went into the relationship blindly... Fortunately for her she had taken a course a few years before for women's safety and escape tactics and was able to free herself from the creep, but she now has issues when it come to trust (and rightly so...)...

Bottom line, there are no friends on the web UNTIL you meet and socialize with someone in real life and the first few meeting should be very public and not reveal things such as your address...

Be safe out there everyone.

It's true there are a lot of wacko's out there (on and off line both), and I would never go out looking for someone in the way myself, nor recommend it to others.

Always, always, always be cautious, and make sure you tell other people, so they can tell you if something doesn't feel right to them, and never, ever travel to meet someone alone ... near OR far from home. It can be dangerous.

That said ... it IS possible to meet and fall in love online and make a good go of it! Particularly if you are an unattached adult, don't totally rule it out. You might "accidentally" meet someone who turns out to be just right for you.

My hubby and I met in a Yahoo Game room five years ago, We did not meet in person for six months, and we married after knowing each other three years. It's been great for us.

But again ,... don't go out looking like the question described ... you are just asking for trouble. And DON'T respond to those kind of posts because they are often the ones that might be most problematic.

Based on your explanation, I believe what you're pertaining to ain't about people wanting to get into a relationship but just people who want to talk to about some specific type of people. Now, there are some rare cases about people who actually wish to get into a relationship via the Internet. These may either be people who believe that there are still nice people out there or they may be physically uncapable of finding a partner.

Well MySpace usually is a great way to find relationships through internet because you have a bazzilion pictures of you as well as your friends commenting you so you know that the person is real, not fake. And usually people become friends on that first and then they hang out, and if more comes out of it then they're together.

nothing wrong with trying to connect with people in any way possible. I guess you simply preferr the more old fashioned method, but that does no mean that others are whacko for trying something different. you shouldn't judge based on your own preferrences man! This is how prejudice and violence start.
