We are kinder to animals than we are to our fellow human beings. It is cruel and unusual to allow people to suffer in endless pain because of our own guilty consciences.

This is a personal decision that an individual should have the right to decide on their own. Like all difficult decisions in life, I believe that the most important thing is to ensure that the person who has such a decision is well informed about all possible options. Everything from new medications that are coming out to end suffering if the suffering is physical to types of treatments that are available if the suffering is psychological. Amongst a host of other information that a person should be given so that they can decide what is best for them individually. I believe this also with other such issues that are similar where an individual is faced with a difficult decision. The more informed someone is, the better they are to make the decision that they feel is right for them.

I understand that in some cases the quality of life in so poor that they would want to take their lives or be assisted to do it (I know I would want that option if I were ever in that position).
However it is very difficult to regulate and make sure people aren't being killed without consent or by family members who want insurance or something...or by doctors, retirement homes, etc.
Sometimes when people are sick or in a lot of pain they might not be thinking clearly and may make irrational decisions...
Then there is always the idea that they might change their mind the next day if they were alive for one more day...
I believe the government has no right to tell people how to live or die and that they have no need to "protect us" from ourselves, but at the same time I can see the other side of the argument...this would be a very hard issue to have any enforceable rules on. People could be getting away with murder much more easily and abusing their elders or the ill...those people who are most in need of care.
So, I guess I see both sides...I want to have it as an option for myself so I have to allow it for everyone...I just worry about how it would be abused.

Euthanasia is not the same as suicide. I have no problem with assisted suicide, but I don't trust authorities to make honorable decisions regarding the killing of people without their consent. They seem to be much too willing to do it.

Someone gives enough of a drug(or poison) to kill another human being. That is murder, not matter how you put it. There should be no law that even suggests another person can kill and say, "It's what they wanted." The person wants the pain to go away, not their life. As far as the individual goes, he or she may kill themselves as they please.

Yes, I should have the option of ending my life at any time, particularly when there's no point to life any more.

I agree. If the decision is made while the person is lucid, I don't really see what the problem is. So... What are your views on abortion?
