Taiwan is not part of the USA. That I know for sure. Some see Taiwan as an independent state, while others see it as a part of China. But, I am unsure of what the people of Taiwan truly believe.

Well its not a territory of the United States and do not believe the United States would dive into the subject of making it one. China however claims it as part of their nation which is a contentious issue for China, the US and Taiwan. The later does not want to be part of China. And the United States has, in the past, sworn to defend it.

you would *choose* that Taiwan became area of the U. S., yet no one thinks that is going to really ensue because that is purely no longer accessible at this consider time. that is an identical way that no one thinks we would want to detect a fashion to bodily tow Taiwan remote from China and in the route of the U. S.. there are a range of of rationalization why human beings would *choose* that lets attempt this with Taiwan (more advantageous safe practices adverse to chinese bombs, more cost-effective and shorter flights between Taiwan and the U. S., etc), even if it is also purely no longer accessible to finish that in our time.

for all intensive purposes it is a part of the US, for the US is treaty bound to defend it. And it is that which defines our borders, however i don't think that territory, is the right word, protectorate is probably closer. this terminology is avoided however, in order to refrain from antagonizing the Chinese government, who see Taiwan as a rebel province.

Neither. It is an independant country of Chinese people who fled there to escape the repression of Communism.
China does not recognise that, and in order to stop a billion Chinese soldiers landing from ships and slaughtering them, the USa has a pact to defend them.
