Good question, but everyone will not go to Heaven.
Do you think for one minute a loving, almighty God would allow His only Son to go thru such misery if there were not a choice?
Don't you think He would have chosen another way if there had been another way to redeem mankind?
Yahshua HAD to be the lamb that was slain. Blood had to be shed.
Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

Long and the short of it (from an Agnostic).
Short: Per The Gospel according to John "I am the way, the life, ..." Basically says that Jesus is the only way to get to heaven.
Long: Jews before Jesus didn't have a "Heaven" as we know it. The after life, to them, at least the generic version of it, was more like what modern Catholics (I'm not completely sure what other flavors of Christainity believe in this also) call Purgatory, basically a waiting room in the after life. The Jews believed that because of what happened in the garden of Eden, they could never again be directly with God, but Jesus is claimed to have been the sacrafice to "wash away the sin" as some have put it.

Lots of human beings died on the cross, during his time. Why single out Jesus?

Of course not everyone goes to heaven, but that has nothing to do with Jesus' death. He died to show us just how much we mean to him. He gave his life, and God his only son's life to show what true forgiveness can be.

Everyone dies; what happens after that we will all soon find out. Don't forget, Jesus died and he rose from the dead, so that death is not the end of it all. What is heaven or hell is what it is and not what we imagine it to be.

Nobody alive today was there when Jesus died, and the account of his death was written several decades later. You know how stories evolve and change even in a few days, so who knows what actually happened.

sadly,not everyone goes to heaven.
crowfeather thinks that Jesus didn't exist because no one was around to witness this, yet we believe there was a George Washington, and I don't know anyone around today that saw him..do you? well, that's it!!!! George Washington didn't exist either, neither did anyone in our history books! I'm glad he was smart enough to clear that up for us all!
