Many people refer to illegal immigrants as "criminals" because they broke law when they entered the U.S.

In my previous question I asked "Does breaking the law makes someone a criminal?" I had a reason to ask that question

The majority of people who answered said yes.

But if illegal immigrants are criminals because when they crossed the border they broke the law, then we are all criminals because at one point or the other we have broken the law, like speeding ticket, driving without a license or insurance or even something small like a parking ticket.

In conclusion I think that if you call them "criminals " for breaking the law when they entered into the U.S. then you must also consider yourself a criminal if you got a parking ticket , because you also broke the law.

I'm correct?

YES you are correct!. breaking the law doesnt turn you into a criminal. a criminal is someone who commits crimes on purpose and runs away from cops and stuff. immigration, in opinon, is not a crime, theyre just looking for a better life! is there anything wrong with that?

No you are not correct. If you fail to pay the fines for those few examples you gave, then, yeah you are somewhat of a criminal. However, illegally coming here is a felony, and clearly breaking the laws. If you get a parking ticket, it was not intentional, yet you have to pay. An illegal immigrant doesn't have to worry about paying those types of fines, because, they never show up in court to face the consequences anyway. You have a faulty argument.

No. There is a big difference between getting a speeding ticket and sneaking into another country illegally. You are comparing a slight wrong with a major wrong. Do you know what would happen to you if you crossed into Mexico illegally? You would end up in a stinking Mexican jail for a very long time. Every country in the world has restrictions for crossing borders. We do, too, and it's time we enforced them. How do you know that the illegals pouring in aren't criminals including murderers and child molesters? How do you know they aren't terrorists?

You're just playing games and this is just side stepping the issue about illegals. They are not wanted here. They are breaking the law to be here. They are stealing from the citizens and those that are legally here. And miss smarty pants, for your information I have never had a speeding ticket, parking ticket, or anything else. There are a lot of us that have never broken anything! And even if anyone has, that still doesn't justify illegal immigration

Yes we all have violated some law or regulation at one time or another. But let us be realistic as well that a parking ticket is a world of difference to murder. Illegal immigration are crimes against the State.

You are only a criminal until you pay for your crime. Once you do, you are square with the house again. You may have a criminal record, but you are no longer a criminal. Soooo, yes they are a criminal, but only until the crime is paid for, at least in my eyes.

The question is a bit misleading, trying to make all people who believe differently than you hypocrites. Sorry sister, it is not going to happen. If you want to call me a criminal, fine. It does not change the fact they should be PUNISHED for their crime! I would, so why should they get special treatment?

Thank you spartan rob. Never even thought about it like that.

Finally a THINKING AMERICAN hard thing to see .... Im totally agree, who without sin cast the first stone. Every body have broken a civil law even littering is illegal and we all had done it at least some time and if you havent (there may be one) you have broken another one like speeding, if it says 45 miles an hour and you go 50 thats illegal cause it says 45.

A parking ticket is a civil offense and not a criminal one. So you are incorrect.

Also, there should be consequences for breaking the law. The US should not reward law breakers by giving them amnesty.

Yes you are technically correct, but I don't think people equate speeding down the freeway to ignoring another countries laws and sneaking across its borders? Do you really feel those are equal? If so we simply disagree. To me one is an infraction and the other should be a felony.
