I'd just say if your hair has locked already (been over 6 months to a year since you started them and they're definately matted together) wash them and care for them just as you would your hair normally. Retwisting (palm rolling is best) the roots keeps them nice and cylindrical...and using a loc butter or gel and setting the style under a hair dryer is the best.
