They work great on some dogs and are really much kinder for a puller than a chain collar.
I am not fond of haltis or gentle leaders as they really don't work very well for most dogs.
If you have a dog with 'issues' I would NOT go the treat training route (although I have with some dogs). Pack leaders DO NOT bribe their pack. That is the problem with the PP people, they think there is a one size fits all training method, and there is not, all dogs are individuals. And I would NOT go to Petsmart, the Petsmart 'trainers' (and I use this term loosely) I have watched are totally clueless and have no business trying to teach anybody to train their dog.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL0oo
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Yes. That is what we were taught to use in 4-H dog training years ago. Instant correction instant release. I've since learned other things and don't rely on that alone. It's an option for some dogs and some situations. Like anything in the right hands it's humane - in the wrong hands it's cruelty

This is just my opinion and what worked best for me. I never used it for training. i didn't want my dog (doberman) to get the idea that training wasn't fun. i do use it tho when we walk. he tends to walk a lot faster then me and he knows as soon as i put the collar on that it means a walk and he should be gentle. Training i used a regular collar and a lot of treats. If training time isn't fun for the dog he/she may not want to learn. My dog loves to learn and he has fun doing so.

I am a trainer and I hate them. Completely unnecessary for training. I love the Gentle Leaders, most people that do not like the gentle leaders are not using them properly, they work like a horse bridle. If you have a brachycephalic breed (pets with smushed in noses like a pug) there are gentle harnesses. What ever method you use please contact a professional trainer. This is their job. They can help. Try to choose one that uses positive reinforcement techniques. They have all kinds of tips and tricks and if you join a class(highly recommended) they also help with socialization. PetSmart is a great place to start.

I volunteered at an animal shelter for 14 years. I have used them plenty of times. They do not hurt the dog. They are fine to use.

I used it on one of our german shepherds and it was not good. Personally we didn't like it and removed it immediately. Anyway, Baron was a good dog and really didn't give much trouble.
Glad it works for some and maybe it's worth trying, but if it doesn't seem to be working I wouldn't push it.

Depends on the dog. They are OK on big breeds, but I wouldn't want to put one on a Yorki !

They are a good training tool if used very gently.
They are painful if used roughly.
