Hi I have been working at a company I really like since the middle of may. The company sells alumni directors to schools all over the usa by telephone. People call us and we call people. Today I had some very frustrating calls. One of which the customer would not stop talking and I in return was very patient. The very next call I got frustrated with a customer and after I thought they had hung up I said sort of under my breathe "*****" well it turns out that the company recorded the call and heard me say that. Well I have a 90 day window where I am suppose to not screw up. Well when the manager listens to a message and hears me say ***** thats not good. He said he didnt know if the customer had hung up yet or not, but im about 99.9 % sure I would never say that to someones face. So tonight I had to go talk to him and he said I was suspended and they were gonna deliberate to see if the customer had hung up. I either will get fired or on a final notice. What should I do? I feel ******

It sounds like you had a weak moment, but it was nothing intentional...If the customer heard you say *****, they would have likely called to complain about it immediately, and requested to speak to your superior. It's more likely that they simply didn't hear you...I have to speak to clients on a daily basis; in person and over the phone. You screwed up, but it's not the end all be all...This information might go into your personnel file (is the fact that someone "may" have heard you that much of a black mark, really?). If by chance you are fired, all you can do is chalk it up to a lesson learned...Keep in mind also, if the client was verbally abusive, you should not have to tolerate it...Tell them so, and hang up. Good luck :)

I'm sorry that you're so upset. Don't feel ******. **** happens. For some reason, this was meant to be. If only the fact that you learn more self-control (although it sounds as if you reacted in a completely human manner after such a day...). It is important to like the work you do, but something else WILL come along. And just for the record, when you see your boss next, I'd bring up the fact that you were so very sorry about it that you seeked him out to try and explain. Oh, also, what happened to the 90-day window, what happened regarding that in just a few hours???

thats no good man. first u need to chill out. when i worked at mcdonalds, i had lots of annoyin customers who were usually in the wrong and they would love to yell about pointless things and prove how pety and small they are. the best way i found after a while is to just smile and not be smart and listen and agree. when they calm down, give them their options, and always remain in control. i dont repsond to yelling, so i wont talk while someone is yellin, and im sure the other person would feel the same. if you cant handle the call, pass it on to another colleague maybe....
any way, about your boss, maybe write a letter explaining your actions, and how they were in-exscusable and you hope that management can give you a second chance and that you will strive to deliver a professional attitude while at work and will rise to a constant level achievments for the workplace...or some **** like that.... ;)
hope u feel better bud.

Well, @#$% happens. We all have those days. And unfortunatly, we all get fired eventually for something silly. Just in case, keep your head up, and start looking for another job. After all, you were looking for a job when you found that one, right? Think of it as an opportunity to expand your hurizons. (spelling) I once got put on report for saying that I thought the bosses daughter had a nice azz. It was my second day. But after a few years, it turned into a joke that even I could laugh at with my co-workers when my boss brought it back up at a party. Since then I have been promoted twice. If you get to keep your job, just show them over period of time that you are an asset. Good luck.

Sounds like you need to look for a new job!! It could be a blessing because that job doesn't sound all that great anyway! Go ahead and quit before they get to fire you so it will look better on you!

Do you really get paid for this? I nurse and sometimes, I just have to tell my patients exactly what is on my mind and its only in their best interest, something like.....my lord how did you gain that 436 pounds, and you don't need another dinner tray.... cause you need to lose 300 pounds. I tell family members. to quit bringing aunt Ethel cigarettes at home, she is going to blow herself up, don't you get it she is on oxygen
Sometimes, you just gotta tell it the way it is.
If you get fired, you'll find another job.

You have no choice. Handle it with class and stand firm until the deliberation is over. You can always sue later if they break any labor laws.
