Let me see. Evolution has been taking place for billions of years on our little planet. Yet the Bible is still there on the table.

So, no, they don't cancel each other out. They are both simultaneously existing at this very instant!

...oh wait!! -- oh, I thought maybe the Bible flickered there for a moment -- or was it just me (and the rest of reality)? You just can't tell about these things. I guess that's relativity.

The theory of evolution was proposed by those who were secular humanists, and who wanted to get rid of a belief in God. The two ideas, creation and evolution, are mutually exclusive. They cannot coexist. If you believe in the biblical account of creation, then you cannot believe that the Earth has been around for millions of years.

There are those who postulate that you can mix the two, and have attempted to do so by employing "theistic evolution," where God put the parts in place and let them spin together over millions/billions of years. Others propose a "gap" theory, where in Genesis 1:1, the earth was created, but in Genesis 1:2, God judged that earth, and recreated it in Genesis 1:3, hoping that the time frame matches the scientific theory. Others will ask, "How long was a day during creation?" hoping that the answer is millions of years long each.

Because there are no witnesses to what occurred during creation, anything that man comes up with is a theory, and unable to be proven through a scientific process, which requires the scientific method.

The scientific method requires:

# 1. Observe some aspect of the universe.
# 2. Invent a tentative description, called a hypothesis, that is consistent with what you have observed.
# 3. Use the hypothesis to make predictions.
# 4. Test those predictions by experiments or further observations and modify the hypothesis in the light of your results.
# 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until there are no discrepancies between theory and experiment and/or observation.

But this is supposed to be based on observable facts. Evolution cannot achieve this using the traditional scientific method. What does that leave?

Faith. Just like those he criticizes for following myths, the evolutionist is practicing his faith. The evolutionist believes in the theory. They have their own scriptures, and apologea. And woe unto those who knowingly or unknowing tread on "holy" ground. They'll eat you alive. You'd think for all their vitriol, that you were in a church full of hypocrites.

No, evolution is the scientific way of explaining how the earth was created. And all christian's believe that God created the earth and that evolution is a made up thing, for non beleivers to have some kind of explanation.

*think* if we evolved from apes. Why are there still apes?

No, since evolution, despite much noise IS STILL a theory. In science, a theory has to be proven in order to be "a scientific fact" and since nobody's been able to re-create the evoutionary experience, I tend to lean toward the Intelligent Design theory which implies the existance of an Intelligent Creator(the one true, self existent God. Jehovah.)

If i remember correctly, and I probably don't, the bible says God created the earth or the world in 7 days. I think I remember something about God creating man also. Science has shown us that Dinosaurs lived 65 million years before man. where do they fit into the bible?

I think that they do because the story of Adam and Eve, two people starting off as people, goes against the idea of evolution, that is, two mammals evolving into humans in their current form.

However, intelligent design is a relatively new theory that is combining the two theories. It is the idea that a intelligent designer (God) created everything and we evolved from there.

I believe they are both RIGHT> God gave man knowledge to discover and explore. Our theories do validate the Bible. I believe the creation story of the Bible describes the first Homo Sapiens (adam and eve) therefore, all the other animals created before man including (neanderthal, etc.) became extinct as the seven days completed. (1 day to God is like 1000 or million to us)

FOr some, yes. FOr others, no. They don't have to be exclusive. In fact, many Christians believe that their god started life in the form of microorganisms or something similar and then evolution took over from there.

It's really an opinion more than a direct answer. Study science and the Bible and decide for yourself. Good luck!

No, because you have to believe one or the other. You can't believe both.
