These 2 dogs ran out in front of me today. I slammed on the brakes and smoked the tires, but it was too late. One of them was flopping around in the road before finally giving up....the other limped and drug his back leg on the way back home. What is the most appropriate thing to do here? I stopped and said I was sorry and felt terrible, but I really hate seeing women cry. She (the owner, not the dog) was kinda hot too...I guess asking her out on a date is kinda out of the question now huh?

drop by her house and tell her you saw the asshole that hit her dogs and tried to chase him down but when you got close he fired a shot at you. tell her you chased him for a long time untill you skidded out and stalled and he was gone by the time you could restart your engine. tell her how someone killed your dog when you were a kid and offer her sympathy. if all goes well she should start to cry and you should be able to have her in your arms in no time.

Well, if you would like to meet her again, I suggest you buy her a real, live puppy as replacement for the one that died. Better if it's the same breed as the one that perished. Use grief-laced words with a bit of sympathy and sweetness. And tell her you want to check out how the other dog's doing. Most of all, don't forget to ask how's she doing after the ordeal, and apologize profusely. Take your time and use the puppy and the dog survivor as an excuse to see her. Only time will tell if you're successful. However, it'll be all moot if she slams the door at your face the first instance she saw your face. At least you still get to keep the puppy, or just give it to someone as a gift if you're not exactly an animal lover.

Since you just ran over her pets, asking her out on a date or hitting on her should not even be considered for at least a year (or more, depending on how closely attached to the pets she was).
If you are serious about doing the proper thing, the best way to use proper ettiquete and also show yourself to be a true gentleman is to offer to pay for the vet bill for the injured dog, pay for...uh...disposal of the deceased dog, and also offer to pay for another pet. Be sincere, be polite, do it with your hat in your hands so to say.

It might also be a good idea to approach this from the standpoint that one of this woman's relatives just passed away. Maybe a card of sympathy and a well thought out written apology along with some flowers (not roses!) would also be a good idea.

Wow.... That sounds pretty bad.
1) First get white roses with no thorns.
2) Offer to take her and the living dog to the vet. Wait and see if you're on good terms with her afterwards and find out what kind of dog you hit.
3) Finally if you can get a puppy of the same breed for her. Ask her on a date from there...

Thats all the advice I can give.

Out of adversity comes strength. I think that a kind gesture of taking her to dinner or something along those lines would be appropriate. Just try not to let Peter think to much. I am sorry that this happened with the dogs. Unless you were going a bazillion miles per hour in a residential please remember that the owner has some responsibility. I don't let my dogs run free because I don't want them or the person driving the car hurt.

First, you need to give a long long long letter of apology!
Second, you need to ask if their is anyway that you can help out with the ALIVE dog!
*You can maybe give her a stuffed puppy from BUILD A BEAR with you letter, that may make her feal comfortable with you!
Then you can go to PET SMART and buy her dog some fun items!
About the dating thing, you should wait a while! After she forgives you!!! Then after you all have made up and spent some time together! You can go out and talk about some things!

Hope this helps you out!

I did this before, except both dogs died and they where mine....ya i know it sucked.....well i think the best thing you could have done is stopped...sh** happens and if you truely show that you are sorry and want to help than that is ok...of course the victims owner may be violent, i know that i would have been pretty pissed if i watched someone else hit and kill my dogs...but the best thing to do in a situation like that is to stress that there was nothing that you could have done and that you are very very sorry.....i think ultimatley if you stop and apologize and help, you shown that you are very sorry........oh, and go get her champ!!

You could offer to replace the dog that died and/or help with the vet bills. I think stopping and apologizing was a very classy thing to do. You are free to ask her out, of course, but don't be surprised if she turns you down.

wing nut, the only thing might be is offer to replace her dogs. it was'nt your fault the dogs ran out in front of you. but asking her for a date would not be the best thing for you to do. oh and by the way we like fatbaldoldmen. good luck.
