If you didn't get them as a child, wow were you lucky! I don't remember a time when I DIDN'T get a brain freeze! I remember getting them when I was young walking through Wal-Murt drinking Icees VERY well...
I do know there are some lucky people that don't get them at all, and they are even adults. My husband's friend claims that if you don't touch the cold drink/your tongue to the roof of your mouth as you drink it it won't happen, but I haven't been able to make that work.

I think it's because adults have the tendency to savor what they eat more often..the nerve that's affected by brain freeze is supposedly inside the roof of one's mouth...I guess if the Icee was being guzzled down, it wouldn't have time to "freeze" the nerve...:)

You have to answer this question. How does he get the ice cream? If you are giving it to him, you are allowing him to have it. Let him know that if he does not eat his dinner there is no thing called ice cream. You do the math.

They do, but are usually too busy to pay much attention to the symptoms. They may have a higher tolerance, but they are not immune to the restricting of arteries from the cold.

Mine do!! They are caused by the difference in temp between the cold beverage and the hot air. You'll notice that you don't get them on cold days or when you are in an air conditioned building.

The nerve that stimulates the "brain freeze" is more sensitive for some people more than others. She probably is in the less sensitive catagory.
