Well, these kids don't have much experience with the opposite sex as far as flirting and whatnot goes, so anything that is new is scary. Also, many pubescent kids are nervous about the way that they look at that age, so that could lead to more nerves in talking to the opposite sex.

Dealing with growing up, raging hormones, new feelings, pressure to say and do the right thing, choices and lots of other things and trying to sort it all out and put it in order.
That's a lot of stuff for what is still a very young mind to sort out.
Their bodies are growing and developing so they are dealing with that and quite possibly self conscience and also having the opposite sex zeroing on all the new developments can make you nervous too.
Okay now take all that puberty stuff they are dealing with and now they have to incorporate socializing and all the stuff that goes with that too.

i duno but i would sure like to. i think its becuz our body is going through a lot of changes and we're so uncomfortable with ourselves that we don't wanna be seen without looking GREAT! and then it is the OPPISITE sex which means ur starting to date and so ur just...nervous.

they dont know what to do so they react diffrent and its also the hormones
