Chicken broth

Sometimes a little mock chicken or vegetable broth. Gives the rice a nice flavor. For a tomatoey taste, some "watered down" tomato juice or soup might be good. I like the question.

I use water but I do not use boiling water.
I use a rice cooker. Which is self timing.
I use Brown Wheat rice.
I use a natural soy (Bragg) sauce afterward, then sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds.
Eat with chop sticks and yummy...

I have tried with the soy during the cooking and to me it is so so.. I prefer putting on afterwords.

I have also tried raw carrots cooking with the rice and that works fine.

I have enjoyed mushroom soup and rice but I do not like the grease that comes with the dead chicken, not to mention the steroids put in with the feed as the chicken spends its entire life in a cage.

Thanks for the question, it has reminded me to be creative with my rice cooker.

I prepare a package of Lipton onion soup mix according to directions, bring that to a boil and add rice just like you would to boiling water. Great taste. You could also use any of the package soup mixes and do the same thing

Depends on what kind of rice you make. You can use chicken broth. For spanish rice you use water and tomato sauce with bell peppers/garlic/onions/and tomatos.

Some times you can use chicken broth. This will give your rice a slight chicken flavor. Do not add salt as broth is seasoned.

Depending upon what you are making with it or for just rice you can use broth, chicken, beef, or vegetable broth. You could also use canned soup such as cream of chicken or mushroom mixed with water of course.

Chicken broth and wine if you're cooking risotto. Let me know if you want a genuine Italian recipe from a straight up Italian.
