Traditional chili dogs are just chili sauce/no beans.

when we have hot dogs we have all the good stuff available.

Chili w/beans, mustard/ketchup/onion/slaw/
melted cheddar cheese/(shredded cheese is a nice addition)
jalapeno slices on top.

You can also have diced tomato/cilantro/diced onion for a really great dog, add chili to that if you are bold.

I don't eat chili dogs, but if I did I would put lots of chopped or grilled onions.
