There is a book that Oprah mentioned once about being able to say no to someone. I'm sorry I don't know the name of it but you could probably check on her book list or ask at your local book store or something. She had said that it took her a very long time to be able to tell people no and that the book helped her.
I know how you feel though. I hate having to tell people no. I always feel like "the bad guy". We need to toughen up!!! :)

I can totally relate to you here. I have the same problem. I've found the easiest way to say no is to be kind, but firm. Example - someone wants to borrow money... I'm sorry, but I'm a little short myself. No need to feel guilty.

Practice in a mirror. Just stand there and say the word over and over. Then the next time someone comes to you asking a favor or whatever, you just say (as pleasantly as possible), "I'm sorry, I can't do that." Simple!
