Cared for them while they were en utero by not smoking drinking or drugging (I don't smoke or drug anyway!). I also read to them there and tried to be a good mom from the beginning.
I taught my oldest son to read, and I hope I am teaching all three to love literature and learning.
I am also passing my faith along.
Finally, I am showing them a REAL person, "warts and all" instead of a fake-June Cleaver/Donna Reed mom. I want them to see me solving problems (e.g., how to pay a big bill and still have money for the vacation we're planning), making mistakes and acknowledging them, how to be an adult daughter to my mom, and how to care for others.
In other words, I hope I am making a difference by CONSCIOUSLY parenting, instead of sleepwalking through the job.

I work in an after school program and have had other social work type jobs with kids in the past. I've had to report suicidal threats, abusive parents/guardians and etc.
Now, it's mostly fun things I do. I get to teach arts and crafts and I try to help all the kids see things from other perspectives than they normally would see or think about,...
