bhphotovideo is reliable for online buys but i like going to real stores for that kind of stuff

also dont forget you need to decide what lens to get, uv filter to protect it, bag, tripod maybe, cf card(the extreme 3's are good)

Ok, for comparison shopping go here:

shopping.yahoo.com
www.google.com/froogle

For reputable discount camera shops go here:

www.bhphoto.com (professionals choice, buy my add-ons here)
www.electronics-expo.com (bought my Sony DSC-T9 here)
www.cameta.com (bought my Nikon D70s here)

Check out cameta's auctions on eBay. They are a large certified Nikon dealer in New York. I called about one of their eBay auctions and asked them to throw in a 2 year warranty for free and they did.

Whoever you buy your Nikon from make sure that it comes with a US warranty. Some of these discount dealers sell what's called a grey market camera. They are a certified dealer but selling the overseas version of the camera. That means that a US Nikon repair shop won't honor the warranty and you'll have to go back to the place you bought it which could be a pain.

Good luck,
Joff
