Hang on, I'm not looking to 'hook up' through church. I am however sick of dating sites and the bar scene. Is it ok to join a church with the intention of finding someone (of the opposite sex) to spend time with. Providing of course that you approach the church's teachings with an open mind.

Yeah it is wrong to attend church solely to meet a mate. You are there for the wrong purpose. So what happens once you find this woman, do you stop attending church?

I think what you should do is learn about the single ministries at churches in your town and see which one is offering classes, workshops, fellowship opportunities, and social activities. The difference is that a single ministry focus on getting better relationships individually and put you in contact with people who is going through a familiar situation.

there people in church doing the same thing you are so just be carefull, just because a person goes to church doesnt mean they are christians, the soul of a man shows through his eyes, you can tell most of the time through that be carefull, and don't be fooled by going to church that men or women aren't the same as what you found in the bar seen.

It is one of the Best places to find a mate. However, be honest with the prospective person. If you have opinions that don't jive with what the church taught her to believe, you have to tell her. If you connect with her and later she finds out that you like alcohol (as an example) and the church doesn't allow it, and she doesn't either...then you will lose her. Be honest and things will work out. Good luck

church is a great place to meet people, but what comforts me about meeting people at church is that they believe the same thing that i do. but with that in mind, the purpose of joining a church is to know more about God, and if your basically going to meet someone, you might have the wrong intentions

Its fine to join church and get yourself right, If you have prayed about it!! Your ready!! God will give you, your hearts desire but you have to be done with playing the field, and ready to settle down, be careful in what you ask... but its going to happen, your mate is already made for you, but you have to get on the path you need to be on first so you can claim what is yours... Clean up your home (self) first, then its clear for new levels//

Change will come trust me.. Been and got just what I asked when I was done, and tired of being tired...

Yes! It seems like a great idea, thinking of trying it myself. I think someone who goes to church is probably a decent person, versus those scumbags we all seem to find in the bars. Church is a great idea.Good luck!!

the first question is are you a religious person?? if not don't go to church to look for a date...
if so.. then yes because that is a common bond that you will have with that person for the rest of your life, and its another activity you and your partner will be able to enjoy together.

Lots of churches have established "single" and "single again" groups. They would be more than happy to include you.
