Each person is different in this aspect. The most effective is sterilization, of course, but the second best is either the Pill or Depo Provera (shot). Both can have side effects, depending on how you react personally to the chemical composition. At least with the Pill, if you're having problems, you can always try a different brand; the shot you're stuck with till its out of your system.

I have the copper IUD and there are not a lot of side effects. In fact I have nothing to worry about for 10 years unless I want it removed earlier. Occasionally after the insertion (which isnt that painful) you will have mild cramping but other than that it doesnt have ANY hormones (my body cant handle hormonal birth control) so there is no gaining weight, acne, or any of those other horrible side effects.

I was reading about a form of birth control called Mirena. It is like an IUD with very little side effects, I'm sure they prolly have a website. It might be something to look into.

No side effects and effective? I only see condom, but it takes away 80% of the fun, especially for the guy.
Pills are ok for most women and they are of quasi-total effectiveness providing you don't forget to take it. But yes, pills have side effects on some persons. You have to ask a doctor and try it to really know.

i have a mirena iud. i love it! i don't get periods any more (which is safe!) or any pms or weight gain. nothing! it's great!
it is the MOST effective form of reversible birth control. period. it's something like 99.8% effective... when you are ready to get pregnant, you go to the doctor and have it taken out and you can start trying. it begins working the moment it is inserted.
