It may mean you believe you don't "deserve" to feel good. Were you raised by Southern Baptists? I used to think feeling good meant I did something bad, then I would worry what it was and feel awful.

But I got over that and now feel good when life is good and only feel bad for a short time when something sucky happens, like the mechanic saying the original estimate was too low and he found more things wrong with the car after he test drove it.

Cherish the days you feel really good and that will help you get through days when there is a real reason to feel really bad.

It means you are facing reality and realize that if a god exists he is a monster who will do something to make you feel bad just so he gets a thrill.
