Accepting 'motivational' messages is a personality trait. I always get annoyed by motivational messages. They provide no facts. They often make claims that are not provable or are actually false.
It is a rare and skilled communicator that can motivate both pragmatic and touchy-feely people. Try another motivational speaker. You may find a different one you like...or one that doesn't bother you as much.
Go look up your meyers-briggs personality type via my link. It may help you sort out better ways of getting motivated.

Because it brings up hurtful beliefs that you may not realize you have. Maybe you only partially agree with the suggestions the motivator makes, and part of you feels that the suggestions are not realistic, or somehow do not apply to you.
Immediatly after listening, take a pen and paper and write out whatever comes to mind. Dont censor it, just write.
What you have written is what is going on in you mind that HURTS.
Think about what you would like to feel, and what beliefs you would need to change to feel that way. Good Luck. Keep at it.

Because the tapes are geared for people who need to believe in something to fix their problems, and generally what they need to believe in is a simple 10 step program and a couple sayings that will fit on a bumper sticker.
Youre probably smarter than that and feel alienated from the rest of humanity.
Which is good, those people who listen to those tapes are pricks.

B/c it might make you feel like you aren't good enough. And in listening to the tapes, they actually make it so that you feel even worse about yourself. They're telling you to (let's say) go out an have fun perhaps, and you may doubt yourself and what would happen if you actually did. Or they could tell you (perhaps) to go and ask a girl out or something, and you may think "what if I get turned down?" ... and the tape most likely wouldn't talk about that.
Don't worry, you're not alone in having this happen to you ..... it happens to the best of us, sooner or later.

Maybe because it is not meant for you to listen to. Maybe you don't need that particular tape to motivate you. Or maybe it really isn't a motivational tape-but someone trying to sell you into thinking it is a motiviational tape.

Sometimes we're overwhelmed and not quite ready for the change as other pressures are on us. What you need more is relaxation, slowing down, cutting out all distractions and demands and just doing special stuff for yourself.

because your spirit knows it needs to get motivated and your flesh, the body it self is lazy and knows it needs to change its habits and the flesh don't want to change! keep listening and the inner spirit will take over and motivate the flesh to get going!
