Is it better to read the Bible or listen to the audio book you can buy? I, and I know this is a lame excuse, never really have time to read it, well I do but I like sitting at my comp to much. Also the few times I started reading I couldn't read half the words so I was wondering if it would be the same to listen to it.

It's up to you - some people do better at focusing when they listen. Others do better when it's quite and they read. Whatever works best for you. I like to do both - sometimes you'll get more out of it and possibly hear or read new things if you combine the two. The main thing is that you're in the Word! :)

Reading is far better. It stimulates the mind better and its easy to know when your not concentrating where as listening you can kind of turn a deaf ear and not really gain anything. What you are experiencing is nothing less than the spiritual battle for your soul because it takes place in your mind. That is why you find it so hard to take up and study. Satan would rather you do anything that be in Gods word or in prayer. Try it and see if its not true. Try to devote time for both every day for a while. Not left over time but prime time unless you don't think your relationship with God is that important. You will see what a battle it is and all kinds of excuses will come up. Blessed are those who overcome.

Well, reading the Bible is better, because when something doesn't make sense, you can simply pause and think on that passage for a bit, and also cross-reference to look things up. You can't do that when you're listening. Additionally, if you weren't sure of the definition of a word, listening to it wouldn't be any better than reading it. At least when you read, you can easily look at a dictionary or check the definition online.

both ! very importantly, the best version bible to read is the Kings James version and you must be a christian to really understand the Bible. If you don't know Christ you won't understand the Bible. and here's something else to know just an "FYI" the bible was written at a 4th grade level. any Baptist preacher can tell you that mine did.

If I want to do the chores around the house, drive a car, go on a walk, I'll listen. If I want to be quiet, seek God in a deeper relationship with Him, one on one, I'll read couple it with prayer.

if you listen to it make sure you listen to all of it. pay attention because there are many things christians skip over. I think listening to it is better if you learn that way. I learn differently than others. they labeled me as retarded because of it. Im not retarded, just different.
